Jason Vargas has emerged as the perfect No. 2 starter for the Seattle Mariners, proving it again on Wednesday night (May 9). Going up against the Detroit Tigers, Vargas pitched 8 strong innings, giving up just 1 run and 5 hits. During the postgame interview, he even noted that pitching the ninth inning could have happened, but that manager Eric Wedge decided to go with closer Brandon League. I would have liked to see Vargas in the ninth, simply to allow him to finish off that gem. View full post on Yahoo! Sports – MLB – Toronto Blue Jays News

Reaching a conclusion about Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay, based solely on a recent game against the Atlanta Braves where he surrendered eight runs, would be foolish. It would also be an overreaction to be concerned about his inability to protect the lead in Monday’s game against the New York Mets. View full post on Yahoo! Sports – MLB – Toronto Blue Jays News

I wasn’t at Angel Stadium that sunny afternoon on Sunday, May 6, but while I watched on my television screen as the ball off of Albert Pujols’ bat sailed over the wall in left field and into the bullpen, I could hear an entire fan base breathe a big sigh of relief. The scene between the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals on Saturday, April 14 at Kauffman Stadium resembled WWE Monday Night Raw on Monday, April 9. However, instead of WWE workers trying to separate superstars Brock Lesnar and John Cena in a staged incident, umpires, along with a mass of players, tried separating their respective teammates during genuinely heated moments. We’re a scant week into the season and the Cleveland Indians have treated fans to some brutal outcomes. The games weren’t necessarily brutal, but the outcomes… I can’t describe two losses with eight runs on 12 hits in 28 innings with any word other than brutal. View full post on Yahoo!
