Jason Vargas has emerged as the perfect No. 2 starter for the Seattle Mariners, proving it again on Wednesday night (May 9). Going up against the Detroit Tigers, Vargas pitched 8 strong innings, giving up just 1 run and 5 hits. During the postgame interview, he even noted that pitching the ninth inning could have happened, but that manager Eric Wedge decided to go with closer Brandon League.
