What a dissappointing game for the Blue Jays as they lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 on Wednesday night. You could tell that the Rays were really playing for something and the Rays were not.

David Purcey was the starting pitcher for the Jays and even though he through a complete game and only allowed the one hit he got the loss because of no run support. Purcey gave up a run in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Carlos Pena. With the loss Purcey is now 2-5 on the season. Congrats to David for the very well thrown ballgame.

The offense out-hit the Rays 6-5 but they didn’t not score a run like the Rays did. As a team they struck out seven times and 11 runners on base.

The Toronto Blue Jays were coming off a nice win over the New York Yankees but that sure didn’t show on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays only scored one run and were defeated by the Yankees by the score of 5-1. Yeah the Blue Jays once again struggled at the plate and only scored one run.

Alex Rios had the only rbi for the Jays when he had a rbi single in the sixth inning. As a team there were only four other hits as Andy Pettitte really shut them Jays offense down.

David Purcey gave up all five runs and took the loss. Purcey is now 2-4 on the year after he only lasted four innings. Purcey gave up seven hits and was hit pretty hard during all four innings. The Blue Jays bullpen did a very good job to keep the Yankees at only five runs. Brian Tallet, Jason Frasor, and Jesse Carlson all pitched in relief and all did a very good job.
