Manager Cito Gaston raised some eyebrows Wednesday when, in the seventh inning with his team down 3-2, he didn’t use a pinch runner for catcher Jose Molina.

The non-move by Gaston was magnified when Fred Lewis followed with a sinking liner to right that skipped under the glove of Shin-Soo Choo and bounced to the wall. Molina huffed and puffed to third while Lewis was limited to a double.

The Jays didn’t score the tying run as Aaron Hill struck out and designated hitter Adam Lind popped out.

It proved to be a moot point following the Jays’ three-run rally in the ninth inning to win the game.
