The Toronto Blue Jays lost a disappointing game to the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night by the score of 5-4.

A.J. Burnett tossed six inning and allowed nine hits and five runs to pick up the losss.  Burnett is now 3-3 on the season.  Brian Tallet and Shawn Camp threw the final three innings of the game and pitched well.

Lyle Overbay led the Blue Jays at the plate with two RBI.  Scott Rolen and David Eckstein had the other two RBI for the Blue Jays.  They just didn’t come up with that big hit to tie or take the lead in the game when they needed it.

Matt Stairs connected on a solo home run in the seventh inning to give the Toronto Blue Jays the only run they would need as they went onto beat the Chicago White Sox 1-0.  The Blue Jays offense struggled, but the pitchers were there to pick up the hitters on Monday night.

Dustin McGowan pitched 7 1/3 innings and only gave up four hits.  Great performance out of McGowan who struckout six batters while not walking a batter.  The win was McGowan’s second of the season.  B.J. Ryan struggled in the ninth inning as he walked three batters to load the bases but got out of the jam to pick up his fifth save of the season.

Good win for the Blue Jays as they improved their record to 16-17 on the season.
